Salomon QST 98 Alpine Touring Skis
QST 98 Alpine Touring Skis
Salomon Freeride Product Manager Quentin Boutry nails the landing here, "We took the rocket ship [out] of the QST 99 and created a ski with more options. [The QST 98] is definitely a weapon you can lap through the park, smash some side hits, slap some skins on for a quick tour, or charge some lift-line blower." Pretty much sums it up!
The QST 98, obviously, features some significant upgrades for '22/'23. An increase in tail rocker and an earlier taper in the tip makes the ski quicker and more maneuverable, releasing edges effortlessly while serving up a more playful ride. With less effective edge than its predecessor, Salomon's brain trust employed Double Sidewall construction to mitigate any stability issues and increase your confidence on groomers and higher edge angles. The poplar wood core benefits from also benefits from upgrades like C/FX tech and Cork Damplifiers in the tip and tail, allowing for quicker pivots and a quieter ride, eating vibration for lunch.
The QST 98, after an off-season of tinkering, has evolved into an all-mountain, super-versatile daily driver. This is a ski you can push every single day, from bumps to trees to groomers to dropping cliffs and buttering lips.
