Mammut Pro Short Removable Avalanche Airbag 3.0
Mammut's Airbag System 3.0 is their lightest yet so you won't have to contemplate whether to wear it. They also improved the carry and added a few pack features for the 2016-17 season.
One of few companies to offer a selection of avalanche airbags with a specific women’s fit under its Short range, Mammut built the pack on the Pro Short Removable Airbag 3.0 with a shorter back length, and shoulder straps and hip belt that are tailored to a woman's shape. These models are also suitable for men with a short upper body.
The R.A.S. (Removable Airbag System) uses compressed gas technology — pull the handle to open the pressure cartridge with a pin and fill the airbag in about 3 seconds. The integrated air volume amplifier also sends ambient air to the airbag in addition to the gas stored in the pressure cartridge.
Since studies have shown that many avalanche airbag users do not activate the system due to being overchallenged in a slide, Mammut redesigned its deployment handle to be more intuitive to operate, and is also height-adjustable to allow it to be adapted to the wearer’s body height. Both the deployment handle and the airbag color have been changed to bright orange. Also new, a trigger test tool (included) allows you to carry out deployments without a pressure cartridge so that you can practice.
The Removable Airbag can be installed in all of Mammut's Removable 3.0-compatible packs. Note that this system is not compatible with Removable Airbag backpacks from prior seasons, and the Mammut Cartridge must be ordered separately.
