Wilderness Exchange is currently hiring for a Full Charge Bookkeeper

Wilderness Exchange, Denver’s premier discount outdoor specialty retailer, is looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper- approximately 5-10 hours/ week on a 1099 contract basis. The role can be hybrid on-site and remote, with generally 1 day on-site per week required.  The main responsibilities are entry and auditing of daily cash deposits, monthly bank reconciliations, biweekly payroll and benefits administration, monthly sales tax remittance, and invoice reconciliation. The position also includes some HR, office management, and vendor account management responsibilities as well as financial statement prep and year-end tax prep. 

Billing rate-  $50/hr.

We are looking for an individual with the following skills and proficiencies:

  • degree in business or finance or equivalent

  • minimum 4 years of experience working in a similar accounting position- preferably in a director-level capacity

  • expertise with Excel and QB, and experience with ERP systems

  • expertise in sales tax remittance across multiple Colorado and national jurisdictions

  • the ability to problem-solve, and create greater efficiencies and processes

  • retail concepts like ROI, turns, COGS, and gross margin should be second-nature to you

  • impeccable attention to detail and deadlines

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • the ability to work independently and on-site in our Denver office on an ongoing basis

Retail Store Sales Associate

Job Type: Part-time, 20-30 hours per week

Description

We are looking to hire a passionate Sales Associate for Wilderness Exchange. The Retail Sales Associate’s primary responsibility is maintaining a highly positive customer experience by providing exceptional customer service. This includes in-depth practical and product knowledge of climbing, skiing and mountaineering; the ability to transfer that knowledge, and a willingness to assist customers of all levels with their needs. Must be able to communicate well in a friendly, welcoming fashion. Other duties include being responsible for general store maintenance to keep the sales floor appearance at its best. Accurate and efficient use of the POS system is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Authorized and responsible for continuously improving upon and performing all duties according to Quality, Safety and Employee Policies and procedures:

  • Assist customers with the appropriate information, advice, and service.

  • Accurate entry of merchandise, payments, and customer details in the Point of Sale (POS) system.

  • Resolve issues involving customer relations and satisfaction.

  • Stock and merchandise inventory on the sales floor.

  • Maintain the store's clean, organized appearance.

  • Restocking and managing back stock including lifting boxes of gear.

  • Receiving merchandise in the store.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Previous Work Experience

  • Required: Previous experience in retail sales or customer service roles.

  • Preferred: 6 months to 1 year retail sales in an outdoor specialty store.

Skills And General Experience

  • A current or previous retail employee with 6 or more months of experience.

  • Excited about retail and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holiday, evening, overtime, and weekend shifts.

  • Excellent public relation skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers

  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge of computer systems, typing skills, merchandising experience, understanding of sales techniques, product knowledge, knowledge of and/or participation in backcountry skiing.
