Position Available: Shipping and Receiving Manager
Full/Part Time: Full Time (40hrs/wk)
Starting Wage: $50,000/year
Job Description & Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Shipping and Receiving Manager is to ensure that the experience of every online customer and employee in the company reflect our core values: to exceed customers' expectations in every way, to create a positive and rewarding work environment that values both individual excellence as well as teamwork, and to drive the continued success of the ecommerce business. The S&R Manager interfaces directly with the major stakeholders in the company; they lead our warehouse team and work with our store management, buying team, accounting director, and ecommerce team.
Below are the eight fundamental responsibilities of the Shipping and Receiving Manager:
Personnel/HR Management
- Providing exceptional leadership through example
- Overseeing/ prioritizing/ and managing all shipping and receiving and warehouse functions
as well as the activities of warehouse staff daily - Hiring, firing, scheduling, and training warehouse staff
- Promoting a culture of accountability through performance reviews, feedback on the fly,
and ongoing evaluation of staff performance. Providing coaching and mentorship for staff’s
professional development
Web Fulfillment
- Oversee all activities of shipping for the ecommerce platform
- Ship orders accurately and timely and in the most cost-effective way possible
- Coordinating timely web picking with store management to decrease incidents of double-
sells - Ship online orders taken over phone and prepare online orders for in-store pick up
- Watch for and investigate possible fraud
- Create RAs
Receiving
- Prioritize incoming product to be received
- Accurately resolve all incoming shipments to pack slip
- Reconcile product received against buyer POs and sticker product
- Address shipping discrepancies
- Get RA’s, call-tags, credits, etc. from manufacturers when necessary
- Resolve all warranty issues satisfactorily in conjunction with store warranty manager
Inventory Management
- Maintain off site inventory at warehouse using Google Docs
- Spearhead all product logistics from warehouse back stocking to shop will calls for daily
fulfillment - Physically maintain warehouse with clear organization and spatial efficiency
- Ordering all necessary materials and media for warehouse needs
- Running a tight ship
UPS Management
- Audit all UPS invoices for accuracy, pending credits, and claims
- File and track claims with UPS for items lost in transit, items that did not meet delivery
criteria, etc - Issue call tags for customers who need to return items we are responsible for
- Handle SurePost claims with USPS
- Track/monitor shipping rates
- Manage relationship with UPS rep and continually leverage for best possible rates
Customer Service
Amazon
- Meet strict customer service guidelines outlined by Amazon like 24 hour response
times and professionally resolving all customer issues and complaints - Quickly and effectively respond to all customer reviews and feedback
- Customer appeasement for wide array of customer issues
- Defend A-Z Service Claims and chargeback defense/rebuttals

responded to within 24 hours by team - Handle customer appeasement issues effectively
Sales Platform Management
Amazon
- Monitor performance metrics (feedback, late shipments, customer responses,
claims, etc.) - Maintain/monitor Amazon’s product listings and images to verify integrity in
conjunction with IT team and troubleshoot problems

reporting - Monitor CC/PayPal batches daily and ensure all transactions clear before shipping
items - Effectively troubleshoot any issues and develop solutions, which might entail
working with IT administrator to fix
Communications
- Stakeholder communication needs -store management daily for web picking and will call of
product, buying team for order and product questions, monthly calls with web development
and ecommerce team, and ongoing communication with Accounting Director for invoice and
order reconciliation - Work to create a “United Front” with management to ensure a consistent message is
delivered to all staff

- 2-3 years previous warehouse and management experience
- Must have experience with and a base knowledge of the outdoor gear that we sell

The Wilderness Exchange mission is to serve the Front Range outdoor community with the highest level of customer service, the best selection of technical gear, and the greatest deals on outdoor equipment! Ideally, we’d be stoked on a candidate that has previous outdoor retail experience, but as long as you have a passion for the outdoor culture and lifestyle, and an abnormally high level of psych for getting folks the gear they need, then you’d likely be a good fit.
