Check, check and check. BD's Zone LV climbing shoes boast a fairly intimidating array of tech and design features enabling this shoe to excel in bouldery, sporty environs. Let's dig into it.
First, that upper. Stealing some tech from the Momentum shoe series, the Zone LV's toss a couple beefy velcro straps over BD's Engineered Knit Technology to provide stretch and breathability. Knit uppers, straight up, are part of the climbing shoe game because they serve up unequaled comfort - especially on warm days or long training sessions in the gym.
Underfoot you'll find a downturned and fairly aggressive asymmetrical shape, stolen from another BD shoe, the high-performance Shadow. Pulling hard on stone or plastic will not be an issue. Fuse sticky rubber envelops a medium-flex midsole, with plenty of rubber up top for toe scumming and heel-toe hooks.
* A NOTE ON FIT: The Zone LV is a true "low volume" shoe, narrower than most. You'll size these much closer to your street shoe size and sometimes above it (depending on what sort of power drive you're looking for). If you have a wider foot, hate to say it, but you're gonna want to look elsewhere.
