Inspired by the tough Italian Alpini mountain troops from the 17th Century, this shelter is essentially a frameless tent — a high-tech fabric box that provides protection from wind and rain while trapping your and your amicos body heat for warmth.

The Brooks Range Mountaineering Alpini shelter can be used for lunch and rest stops, when pitching a tent would be impractical. You can also just pull it over your head while, say, sitting on a rock noshing your salami lunch.

Made with high tenacity ripstop nylon, it is tear and abrasion resistant. Ideal for one or two backcountry travelers, the relief from cold and inclement weather is immediate once inside. Two people warm it up in less than 10 minutes. Condensation is kept to a minimum due to breathable fabric and large vents. An alternatve to the standard bivvy!
