Icelantic Pioneer 109 Alpine Touring Ski
Pioneer 109 Alpine Touring Ski
Like its all-mountain little sibling, Icelantic's Pioneer 109 is seemingly built for the varied terrain and conditions of the Colorado backcountry (that 109 waist is Colorado through and through). Where the 96 handles the entire mountain but starts to fret on epic powder days, the 109 snags that baton and runs, surfing the deepest of dumps.
But this ain't no one trick pony; the Pioneer features reduced rocker in the tail for '22/'23, serving up a better directional aesthetic and better all-mountain performance. This means stellar edge hold on firm or windblown days and stability and control when you bury the needle. Add to that its tapered shape with 5mm of underfoot camber coupled with a Poplar Power Core and Icelantic has brought to fruition a powerful, snappy, and responsive ski. Stiff but still forgiving, the Pioneer 109 has everything you'll need to rule everything the Rocky Mountains can throw at you.
