Sharing the the same shape, rocker profile, and touring radius as the DNA - a ski that has taken plenty of medals over the years - at just 100g heavier, Dynafit's Mezzalama was built for racers and fitness-gurus who demand the utmost in performance and efficiency, especially when pinning on a Grand Course or skimo race bib.
Where the Mezzalama truly shines is on the descent, which seems strange for such a dialed racing ski. A Race wood core of palownia not only shaves grams but serves up a damper and more forgiving descent, even with a fiiberglass top-layer and carbon speed stringers infused for a bit more power transfer. Sidewall cap construction at the tip and tail lends the best possible power transfer at the lowest weight, while not drastically punishing you, while a widened shovel and 23cm of tip rocker will even get you floating a bit when encountering moderate powder. Dynafit also improved the turning radius, whittling it down from 24m from last year's model to 20.5 for '22/'23.
As you'd imagine, the uphill unfurls with supreme efficiency, with that Race wood core providing excellent kick-and-glide. And at 1610g...well, you just can't get a whole lot lighter for lightning fast uphills.
