I use this boot for both backcounty and lift service skiing. After skiing it for a week I’m pretty darn happy. It is a comfortable boot with a wider toebox which accommodates my wide foot which I have had difficulty finding. The liner seems good too as I’ve skied some cold days and my feet have stayed warm. I think the Hoji Pro will excel in the BC. It certainly performs on lift service terrain but I don’t feel it performs quite as well as well as my previous Black Diamond Vectors on the harder packed, lift service terrain. The 3 buckle system is efficient and especially the walk mode latch which will ultimately allow you to keep all front buckles buckeld and just go into walk mode for touring or walking with the lift of the walk mode latch. With this said the buckles aren’t the easiest to lift when buckled down and particularly the walk mode latch. I find more often than not I have to remove a glove to release any of the buckles. I think the pointer finger and thumb of any glove worn by a Hoji Pro owner will take a beating from the buckles over a given season. All in all the Holiday Pro is a solid boot and I’m happy with the purchase. I do think footbeds will provide added support and control.
